What are my electrical requirements?

The NEMA3R enclosure comes with 110V grounded plug. A non-dedicated GFCI outlet will suffice. Energy use is less than 3 amps. Except for the class II power supply, all components operate on 24 volts.

Because of the depth of the sewer line or drainage fall from the house, can the subterranean catch basin system be buried deeper?

Yes, the system can be buried to any depth with surface spacing rings available that allow the purple access top to be mounted flush at ground level. Email GGI to inquire about cost and availability for a reservoir spacer rings at www.thegreenergygroup.com

What if there is an earthquake?

All GGI systems comply with all earthquake and construction standards.

Is greywater exposure dangerous to animals?

Yes, even after treatment precaution should be taken to prevent animals from drinking the water.

Is exposure to greywater dangerous?

Yes, precaution should be taken when servicing the GGI catch basin system. Always wear rubber gloves and protective clothing when opening the lids to the system for servicing.

What protects the basin from the elements?

A polyethylene based outer shell will prevent pets, wildlife and children from accidentally accessing the system and tampering with the unit.

Will bleach and other similar cleaning agents cause damage to landscape?

Potentially, yes. Avoid bleach, and cleaners and soaps with borax. If you must, use plenty of water to dilute their concentrations. Liquid detergents are generally better for greywater recycling.

Is it safe to use bleach, or other cleaning agents for sinks, showers and bathtubs?

As long as these types of cleaning agents are used within their recommended dosages for cleaning or disinfection, they are safe to use in our system.

Do I need to be concerned with pathogenic growth in the underground catch basin?

No. Water is not stored in the catch basin. It is filtered and delivered immediately to storage or to your landscape irrigation system.

How many total gallons can it store at full capacity?

Our system can operate without any storage, depending upon your landscape irrigation system. Our reservoirs are scalable and interlocking, in multiples of 54 gallons. Ask your distributor for a quote.

What happens when there is too much greywater, will it overflow?

A discharge port opening located on the reservoir housing transfers surplus greywater to the sewer system.

Can the greywater after treatment be used for spray irrigation?

Check with local codes. Our system is approved for all subsurface irrigation systems. For most of California, additional certification is necessary for spray irrigation and toilet use.

How do we dispose of the pre-filters and filter media cartridges?

Most contaminates contained within the filters are considered non-hazardous and can simply be disposed of with other household garbage.

Can the filters be re-used?

It may be possible to extend the life of the prefilters by disassembling the cartridges and rinsing the elements. For longer filter life, use hair snares, lint traps, and environmentally safe soaps.

During installation should I be concerned about other household pipes located within the same area?

Yes, during installation precautions should be taken concerning other pipelines such as municipal water, sewer, electrical and gas lines installed within the same location area.

Is a building permit required for installation?

Yes, in most cases a permit will be required.

Can GGI perform retrofit installations? If so, how long does it take to install?

Yes, depending on the construction of your home. Please consult with one of our certified plumbers to verify if your house is eligible to be retrofitted for our greywater system.
